General Community Supports:
Seniors Assessment and Support Outreach Team (SASOT) – In home assessments and supports for 65+, to help support independent living, by a team including nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists and medical advisor. North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatric Services – Providing healthcare for frail older adults with complex health conditions and potentially at risk of losing their independence, and their caregivers. They provide short-term support, including an assessment and developing a plan of care based on specific needs of individuals. The Friends, provide community programs and services for seniors and those with physical disabilities, including accessible housing, supports services, and seniors’ programs in Muskoka/Parry Sound. Food App: Too Good to Go: Connects you to local food facilities (i.e. stores, restaurants, cafes, bakeries) where you can buy food at discounted prices (“at half the price or less”). Browse nearby facilities, select a Surprise Bag, pay through the app.

The District’s Advisory Committee
Their goal is to “champion issues related to the provision of an accessible community on behalf of all of Muskoka’s citizens.”
Tasks include research and recommendations to District Council about ways to identify and prevent barriers in the community, including “preparation, effectiveness of Muskoka’s accessibility plan, and on behalf of people with disabilities to buildings and premises,” educate the public about issues.
